The Big Adventure: Posted June 26, 2008
Well anyone who knows me, knows that seeing the world is probably the biggest goal I've ever had. From the times where my Mother would pack up my Brother and me and head to Mexico for the summer, to joining the Air Force in order to leave the confines of my home in Portland, Oregon. No matter what I did--no matter where I was, the next new place to see was just over the horizon. Up until I graduated and moved to Dubai I didn't have the resources or the incentives to make my dream a reality, that is about to change. Today I leave for an adventure that will take me from my home in Dubai, UAE to China, Mongolia, Russia, all over Europe, and to the United States. Three continents, probably about 17 countries, and about 24k miles... basically around the world. I've only mentioned my trip to my friends and only my brother knows that I'm going to keep a journal of my life for the next 44 days, but anyone and everyone is welcome to follow along. Wish me luck...

Canyon Clay Company: Posted October 20, 2007
My most recent show exhibition was held in Canyon Texas' Newest Art Gallery; Canyon Clay Company. It was a two week exhibition featuring most of the work that I've done the past year. Although I wasn't able to attend the reception I'd like to thank all of those that did, and an especially warm thank you to all those who emailed me regarding my work.

Panoptikon: Posted August 30, 2007
I've been here in Dubai now for about three weeks and everything seems to be going well. My classes have started, and in fact I'm close to finishing my first week of teaching. I'm really happy with the classes, the students, faculty, and the department. Some of the things that were really difficult to get used to, are now starting to seem not as difficult, like the heat.

As a little added bonus I've been interviewed for the department newsletter. I don't want to make it out to be any more than it is, all the new faculty have been asked the same questions and will be featured.

Canyon, Texas Art Exhibition: Posted June19, 2007
My next solo art exhibition is scheduled for June 17th at the Mary Moody formal gallery. The work featured will be the pieces done for my MFA degree as well as some of the more recent work that I've done over the past few months. I've included a small video walk through of the exhibition with some light explanations. The vid was intended for my Brother because he wasn't able to attend, but thought that some people may be interested. Please keep this in mind this was done for my Brother and is not edited or professionally filmed.

Kenneth "Ken" Curtis at Clovis, NM art receptionClovis, New Mexico Art Exhibition: Posted March 30, 2007
The art exhibition in Clovis, New Mexico is complete. I have to say that for being the first solo exhibition I've had not in my home town, it went really well. The reception was not packed, but quite a few people attended, as well as a number of good friends. So thank you to all who attended and an especially warm thank you to Sondra, the curator/gallery manager. I've included a picture of me "shoomzing" during the reception, but it's not the best I've had taken.

Part of my MA Show that deals with the careers and hobbies of the past. The image is a composite of several versions of the same photograph with different treatments applied to each one. The strength is the contrast between the texture which consists of softer tones and scanned fabric and the difficult job the subject is engaged in. more
