serigraph on paper

Daredevil (Plate 2, p. 22) was created with a composite of two aerial daredevils, with the concept of comparison with modern X Game athletes. The subject is the large biplane with a woman hanging from the wing. Although a strong image by itself, I felt that it lacked the strength to hold all the other elements together.
The placement of the subject image near the top of the composite was required if I wanted to include the full length of the woman hanging from the wing. This created a problem with the composite being top heavy. A problem that was partially corrected by adding the masking tape at the bottom. The masking tape had the added benefit of giving the impression that the image actually is corporeal. There was still an uneasy gap below the plane and above the tabe that need to be filled. I decided to add the other image of the plane and wingwalker. I chose this image because it strengthened the concept of “daredevil.”
